Fairy Type Dual-Type Chart

This chart shows how much damage a Fairy-type move deals to every combination of two defending types. Rows are the first defender type and columns are the second. Each cell gives the damage multiplier: 4 is extremely effective (400%), 2 is super effective (200%), ½ is not very effective (50%), ¼ is highly resistant (25%) and 0 means no effect. Blank cells are normal 1× damage, and the gray diagonal marks a type paired with itself, which is not a valid dual type.

Fairy Type Summary

The Dragon-slayer type, held back only by Poison and Steel.

Fairy was introduced to keep Dragon-types in check, and it remains one of the strongest types in the game. It is immune to Dragon, hits Fighting, Dragon and Dark for super effective damage, and resists three common offensive types, with only Poison and Steel able to threaten it.

Fairy on offense

Fairy-type moves are super effective against Fighting, Dragon and Dark and are resisted by Fire, Poison and Steel. Moves such as Moonblast, Play Rough and Dazzling Gleam give Fairy-type Pokémon a clean answer to some of the most powerful attackers in the game, especially Dragon-types.

Fairy on defense

Fairy-types are weak only to Poison and Steel and resist Fighting, Bug and Dark, with a full immunity to Dragon. Only two weaknesses is excellent, and the Dragon immunity means Fairy-types can switch into the strongest Dragon moves with no risk at all.

Notable Fairy-type Pokémon

Well-known Fairy-types include Gardevoir, Sylveon, Clefable, Togekiss, Azumarill, Mimikyu, Tapu Fini, Zacian and Enamorus. They fill offensive, defensive and support roles, and abilities such as Huge Power on Azumarill show how much range the type has.
