Ghost Type Dual-Type Chart

This chart shows how much damage a Ghost-type move deals to every combination of two defending types. Rows are the first defender type and columns are the second. Each cell gives the damage multiplier: 4 is extremely effective (400%), 2 is super effective (200%), ½ is not very effective (50%), ¼ is highly resistant (25%) and 0 means no effect. Blank cells are normal 1× damage, and the gray diagonal marks a type paired with itself, which is not a valid dual type.

Ghost Type Summary

Two immunities and spin blocking, paid for with Ghost and Dark weaknesses.

Ghost is a strange, valuable type. It blocks Rapid Spin, is immune to Normal and Fighting, and hits Psychic and Ghost hard, but it is weak to Ghost and Dark — two of the best coverage types — so Ghost Pokémon have to play carefully around them.

Ghost on offense

Ghost-type moves are super effective against Psychic and Ghost and are resisted by Dark, while Normal-types are completely immune. Moves such as Shadow Ball and Poltergeist are common on both offensive and defensive Pokémon, and the type's immunity interactions make it a natural spin blocker.

Ghost on defense

Ghost-types are weak to Ghost and Dark and resist Poison and Bug, with immunities to Normal and Fighting. Those two immunities let Ghost Pokémon switch into common moves, but the Dark and Ghost weaknesses mean they can be removed quickly by the right coverage.

Notable Ghost-type Pokémon

Well-known Ghost-types include Gengar, Dragapult, Mimikyu, Aegislash, Gholdengo, Flutter Mane and Giratina. They span fast special attackers, defensive pivots and some of the strongest Pokémon in the modern metagame.
